5/10/09 Apologies... Though the site as been finished and running, the staff, (Nile and Renny) have been extremely inactive during the end of the school year, especially Nile, she has been so busy with school that she can hardly check up on the site. Luckily, school is almost out, and the site will be back up to peak performance. Just be patient, near the second week in June both Nile and I will be back and run the site again. Our apologies for the inconvenience. Renny
04/21/09 GRAND OPENING! -flails and dances- We've only been created for about a week and we're open for business. Roleplays have already started and threads are open, so jump right in and create your character! Again, huge thanks to Renny whom without I would have never gotten this done in a timely fashion, and our Nali's hairless sphinx, Contessa, who makes me very happy. ^.^ Keep it up, and potential members, don't hesitate to join! :) Nile
04/17/09 Almost there...
It has been just a few days since Florence has been created and already we are making giant leaps and bounds toward opening to the public. If you're reading this message and you're not either myself of Renny, feel free to pre-join! Accounts must be accepted by me for now, but don't worry. Soon as we have the site up and running, this will change. Huge thanks to Renny for helping out, and remember that pre-joiners that help out will probably be rewarded in the long(or short) run by your lovely administrators. ;D Keep it in mind! Nile
General Information These are the basic rules, regulations, and codes that we live by here in Florence. You'll find in-character and out-of-character rules, information on breeds, and a whole load of other stuff you need to be a successful member of this site.
Characters (1 sub-board) In here, you will find a list of accepted characters, as well as the character application board. Do not, under any circumstance, post in the accepted characters board; but I'm sure you read that in the rules already, right? Moderators: Nile, Renny
Gang Boards Naturallly, the felines of Florence will form alliances and gangs of a kind. In this board, you will find sub-boards for all of the collective gangs, as well as a locked-and-stickied post with all the rules for being in and leading a gang of your own.
Basilica of San Lorenzo This ancient chapel was created in 393 A.D, though it was later rebuilt twice in 1060 and 1423 at it's present state. The church is open to many, and is flanked by the Medici family catacombs, also known as the Medici Chapels. Though many flock to the church to see it's beauty that is so highly praised, it is also a great sleeping place for various animals- particularly the ones that can sweep in unnoticed.

Palazzo Vecchio The Palazzo Vecchio, Italian for "Old Palace," is a place that many tourists and Florentines alike come to see. Entrance is easy for those who are quick and can slide between the unsuspecting legs of those entering. Once inside, the Three Courtyards hold wonderful artistic beauty as well as saftey from the elements. However, it is rather tricky, holding many confusing chambers as well as the basic courtyards. For newcomers, the Palazzo is easy to get lost inside, but for the experienced, it is no problem. The maze of chambers holds great value for mates and gangs, where they can hold secret meetings and not risk discovery. Getting out is the hard part, however; cats are more easily seen. Just be quick through the doors.

Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore is the largest Catholic church of Florence, also called simply the Florence Cathedral. This large site also includes the Baptistry and Giotto's Campanile, though both are unable to be accessed by the cats. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and maroon-pink bordered by white and has an elaborate 19th century Gothic Revival façade. This gorgeous structure is largely visited by tourists, though the doors close promptly at 9:00 PM. It is said because the subterranean vaults were used for the burial of Florentine bishops throughout the centuries, the crypt beneath is haunted, though only the tomb of Filippo Brunelleschi is opened to the public, who lays at rest with his grand domed basilica still standing.

Piazza della Signoria Lying directly in front of the Palazzo Vecchio, this L-shaped square, the Piazza is the political hub of the city. It is a great tourist attraction, known for Michaelangelo's statue David as well as many other mythological and biblical works of art as well as it's large space and beautiful outlook. Because of the number of both Florentines and tourists, the Piazza della Signoria is littered with small markets and places to find food, as well as the Fountain of Neptune for a water source.
Sant'Ambrogio Marketplace Hungry? The Sant'Ambrogio Market is a palace of fresh meat, fish, fruit, pasta, cheese, vegetables, and flowers. Humans will often go inside the Sant'Ambrogio Restaurant to eat their meals, but many also come and eat outside on the terrace. The local Pulci Flea Market is just down the street, where Florentine women and men alike flock to collect rare and inexpensive goods.

Anconetta Park Anconetta Park is a beautiful scenic place all year round. It is a popular biking and jogging place during the spring and summer months, while in the winter, many photographers and pleasure walkers come to enjoy the timeless scenery. Though the trail is only paved for a while and becomes dirt quickly, Anconetta Park is an extremely beautiful area that many cats call their home. Slim to no humans ever visit at night, making the wooded trail both peaceful and ominous for the cat in question. The brush and wooded benches and pavilions in random intervals throughout the park provide excellent places for kittens and adult cats alike. With a lush variety of small animal and bird, food is never scarce, and small pools from the somewhat frequent rains provide an excellent water source. Ultimately, Anconetta Park is the perfect place for any cat to raise a family, or just plainly enjoy.

Arno River The Arno River, which flows into the Ligurian Sea, stretches through Florence to Pisa. It passes below the Ponte Vecchio and Ponte Santa Trinita. This leads to more rural areas of Florence and Italy in general, giving peace and grace to those who prefer the quiet almost-wild to the bustle of city.
DeRaffaele Estate Though even the family itself doesn't know it, the DeRaffaele family farmland has been a blessing to the stray cats of Florence for over a decade. With their lush twenty-two acres of land and elaborate landscape, the DeRaffaele land is a perfect rural heaven. There is a large lake in the middle of the grassy area, and small patches of forestland border the grand expanse. The other half of the lands is farmed for the majority of the year, always with some kind of crop growing. Small animals find the farmlands a grand source of food, which lets the Florentine cats get some food of their own. When cats wander closer to the house, they can sometimes encounter one of the DeRaffaele children, who have proved to be unpredictable as to whether they will be hostile or welcoming.
Serenata Fields The Serenata Fields, or "Serenity Fields" are actually not fields at all. The once-barren landscape has now turned into a rather lush forest, filled with a range of deciduous trees. This borders the DeRaffaele estate and the Via del Vivanus on either side. The heavy foliage on the ground also provides a great protection for those who like a more peaceful night, and very few predators, other than dogs and other cats, roam in this forest. Safety is rather constant, though cats are a bit more susceptible to the elements.

Via del Viviana This is the road that leads to Pisa. Literally, this means "Road of Vivian," after a folktale of a woman who walked the entire distance between the two cities to see her family. If you or your character are leaving but you don't quite have the heart to kill them off or let them be killed, post their wanderings away here. Any characters who do not post here and are left idle for more than 35 days will be killed off by another member.

Welcome
Welcome to Florence, Italy. This is the birthplace of many things beautiful and timeless, with buildings millenia old and years new, this extravagant city is a true rival to Italy's Eternal City. Combining the old and the new is commonplace in Florence, where tourists come and go and longtime Florentine residents thrive. It is not only the humans who prosper, however. There are other animals. Mice, rats, birds, weasels, dogs, and an array of any and every animal. The most prominent and abundant of these are cats, both stray and domesticated.
How did these feline creatures become strays? Do they thrive well in the city, or do they prefer the rural areas? Well, that's all for you to decide. In a timeless city, anything is possible.
Welcome to the vicarious exploration of the greatest artistic and natural beauties on the Earth. Welcome to Florence.
